Laughlin, Nevada Saturday March 10, 2007.
This was another great night of 15 fights and the venue was perfect for a
King of the Cage event as there was no bad seat in the arena. Ring Girls
were hot, the after party was fun and the River was full of hot bodies,
beer, and gambling in the casino which made for a weekend of fun for entire
Families.
Under Card Results:
Fight 1 145lbs
Ty
Gilstrap vs. Edwin Diaz
This fight featured a Local fighter Ty Gilstarp out of Kingman Arizona. Both
fighters were making their pro debut. This fight was over quickly when
Gilstrap picked Diaz up and slammed Diaz hard to the floor and immediately
jumped on Diaz in full mount and landed several shots until the referee was
forced to stop the fight due to strikes, Look for this kid to be a World
Champion someday and he normally fights at 135lb
.26 of R1 Winner – Gilstrap
Fight 2 205 lbs
Craig Turner vs. Calvin Bell
Bell takes Turner down and attempts to secure a foot lock and Turner tries
to spin out however Bell secures the foot and forces Turner to Tapout.
2.22 of R1 Foot Lock Winner – Bell
Fight 3 145 lbs
Cody Bollinger vs. Nick Trejo
This was the fight of the night. Trejo came out firing bombs that landed
causing a cut over the left eye of Bollinger. Trejo takes Bollinger to the
ground and Bollinger reverses position and lands a couple punches to the
face of Trejo. Trejo gets back to his feet and lands a good combo to the
face of Bollinger. Trejo gets the takedown and get Bollinger’s back and
lands several punches to Bollinger head and face. Round 1 went to Trejo.
R2 Bollinger takes Trejo to the ground and attempts a rear naked choke
however does not have the choke sunk in. Trejo gets back to his feet and
Bollinger gets another takedown and starts to throw elbows and punches and
then sunk in the rear naked choke forcing Trejo to tapout.
3.12 R2 Winner – Bollinger
Cody Bollinger is a Tuff up and coming mixed martial arts star, he is only
18 years old and currently being pursued by several different colleges for a
wrestling scholarship and his Dad is Frankie Bollinger KOTC veteran.
Look for this kid to be a World Champion someday.
Fight 4 145lbs
Ernie Calma vs. Gary Noche
Calma is another local fighter from Bullhead City Arizona. This fight was
the Co-Fight of the night. This was a great fight that went back and forth
with Noche winning round 1 and Calma winning round 2 for a Majority Draw.
Both fighters showed great heart as both fighters rocked each other and both
fighters got takedowns and escaped from take downs.
This was a hard fight to judge. Noche broke his
left on Calma’s head.
Fight 5 185lbs
John Cole vs. Frank Park
This fight was stopped to early and the fans let the referee know about
every time his name was announced the rest of the night.
Park comes out and lands a right hand and then tries a kick which is blocked
by Cole, Cole then lands a big right hand to the nose of Park that rocked
him Cole then jumped on top of Park and landed a couple more shoots before
the fight was stood up for lack of action. Park then landed a solid right
that rocked Cole as Cole went to the ground he was defending himself when
Park tried to jump on Cole, however referee Raul Peralta stepped in and
stopped the fight. The fans started booing and Cole went crazy threw his
mouth piece and got into the face of the referee and ask him why he stopped
the fight.

Not sure however Park’s nose looked broken?
Fight 6 205lbs
Sean McCafferty vs. Lars Haven
McCafferty comes out swinging, Haven gets the take down and attempts an
armbar and has it sunk good. McCafferty tries to pick up haven and slam him
however Haven has the armbar sunk deep and you can see the pain on
McCafferty’s face as he refuses to tapout and then McCafferty’s arm is
snapped back and broken
(See picture) McCafferty showed some big heart in not tapping out.

Fight 7 125lbs Women’s Bout
Tia Castillo vs. Thricia Poovey
Poovey lands a couple jabs and then gets the takedown and attempts and
armbar, however does not have it sunk in as Castillo tries to punch her way
out. Poovey then attempts a triangle choke and seems to have it sunk in
good. Referee Herb Dean continues to hold up Castillo’s hand to make sure
she was not out as she was refusing to tap.
After 3.17 Castillo was forced to tap.
3.17 R1 Winner – Poovey
Fight 8 160lbs
Joe Boxer vs. Albert Hill
Boxer gets the takedown and goes for an armbar, Hill tries to roll out of
the armbar however is unable to get out of the armbar and is forced to tap
after 1.01 of round 1. Hill did not tap early enough and appeared to
dislocate his arm.

Fight 9 190lbs
Dan Axe vs. Sean Loeffler
Dan Axe a local fighter out of Kingman Arizona was making his pro debut
against the up and coming Loeffler who was 15-0 coming into this fight.
Loeffler out weighed Axe by over 10 lbs and Axe agreed to accept the fight.
Loeffler came right out threw a flying punch and then got a takedown and
took the back of Axe and Axe refused to tap and was completely choked out.
Axe had to be waken up with smelling salts.

Angelo McLeroy vs. Kyle Kingsbury
Kingsbury gets the take down and tries to get the rear naked choke in and
McLeroy is doing everything he can to try not to get caught in the choke,
however after 1.39 of round one McLeroy was forced to tap due to rear naked
choke.

Fight 11 170lbs
Randy Velarde vs. Toby Imada
This was a good fight going back on forth. Velarde lands a couple punches
and jumps on Imada, Imada tries an armbar and Velarde picks up Imada and
gets out of the armbar. After exchanging takedowns and punches the round
ends.
R2 Imada gets takedown and goes for the armbar,
Velarde tries to escape, however Imada has the armbar sunk in good forcing
Velarde to tap.
2.23 R2 Winner – Imada
Fight 12 155lbs
Krazy Horse vs. Robert Martz
Well Krazy Horse was up to his usual Krazy self. Krazy Horse comes out of
the curtains talking on a cell phone and out of the curtains comes two
police officers that handcuff Krazy Horse and lead him to the ring. The
fight starts and Krazy Horse is playing with Martz daring him to hit Krazy
Horse. Martz misses a punch and Krazy Horse connects with a right hand then
a knee that rocked Martz, Krazy Horse then jumped on Martz and landed one
more bomb to Martz face forcing the referee to stop the fight. Martz had to
be helped out of the cage.

Fight 13 135lb World Title Fight
Ed Newalu vs. Ryan Diaz
This fight was suppose to be Manny Tapia Ryan Diaz, however apparently Manny
Tapia has given up his World Title which opened the door for Ed Newalu.
Diaz comes out with two legs kicks to the lower leg of Newalu. Diaz then
goes for the armbar as Newalau tries to slam Diaz off his arm; however Diaz
has the armbar sunk in deep forcing Newalu to tap.
3.11 R1 Winner – Diaz KOTC World Champion
Fight 14 Heavyweight World Title Fight
Jerry Davis vs. Manny Rodriguez
Davis comes right out and lands several punches to the face of Rodriguez
followed by several knees that landed square, however did not seem to do any
damage to Rodriguez. Rodriguez landed a couple punches to the face of Davis
followed by a takedown and then Davis gave Rodriguez his back and Rodriguez
started to ran down punches forcing referee to stop the fight. Davis seemed
to be winded after his initial flurry of knees and punches.
3.41 R1 Winner Rodriguez KOTC World Champion

15 170lb World Title Fight
Bryson Kamaka vs. Aaron Weatherspoon
Aaron Wetherspoon KOTC Welterweight Title holder came out with a flurry and
knocked out Kamaka in .11 of round 1. Wetherspoon is one of the strongest
fighters I have ever seen at 170lbs. Wetherspoon looked to be two times the
size of Kamaka.
