Who is King of the Cage?

After performing over 500 events since its inception in 1998, King of the Cage has proven to be a leader in the evolution of Mixed Martial Arts. No other production has promoted more fights than King of the Cage. KOTC has and continues to promote shows globally, including the United States and foreign countries such as: England, Singapore, South Africa, Canada, Japan, Australia and Philippines.

King of the Cage is available weekly to over 50 million homes in the United States on cable and satellite television on MAVTV, owned by Lucas Oil and also airs in more than 50 countries worldwide.

King of the Cage has been a career staple for countless stars including Ronda Rousey, Forrest Griffin, Quinton Rampage Jackson, Daniel Cormier, TJ Dillishaw, Demetrious Johnson, Robbie Lawler, Rory MacDonald, Rashad Evans, Krazy Horse, Keith Jardine, Mac Danzig, Urijah Faber, Joe Stevenson, and Diego Sanchez.

King of the Cage recently secured a broadcast deal with the UFC, allowing FIGHTPASS to broadcast all events internationally. They also have the rights domestically one year after each event and the initial airings on MAVTV.

Brief History of MMA

MMA can be traced back to the ancient Greek sport of Pankration, a form of unarmed hand t hand combat introduced in the Olympic Games in 648 B.C.

Modern MMA has its roots in the combination of the 5 Olympic sports of Boxing, Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling. Judo and Tae Kwan Do, with little Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai thrown in for good measure.

In order to be successful today, MMA fighters must be proficient at both striking and grappling. With the growth of MMA, the sport is now attracting world class Olympic and college athletes who will take the sport to the next level. MMA is now widely viewed as the natural successor to boxing for the next generation.

The Evolution of King of the Cage

KOTC, the world's most prolific MMA promotion turned 20 years old this past year. Under the leadership of founder Terry Trebilcock, KOTC first began promoting events in 1998 when mixed martial arts was then known as No Holds Barred (NHB) fighting.

During this early period KOTC and Terry Trebilcock became dominant advocates and respected voices in the development and acceptance of rules to govern the emerging sport. Olympic rules for boxing. Judo and wrestling, professional kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu became the foundation upon which the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts Combat were defined. Through promotion of first-class professional events, KOTC has grown to be a force in the industry.

Today KOTC promotes more than 52 live events annually throughout the U.S. and in 8 foreign countries including Australia, Canada, England, Japan, Africa, Philippines, Mongolia and Singapore. KOTC produces large arena events, smaller future legend qualifiers and everything in between. KOTC attributes its ability to produce the only U.S. weekly broadcast event, to an allegiance with fighters and fans as well as its experienced staff.

KOTC has proven to be an integral part of the evolution of MMA and continues to be the world's most dominant MMA Promotion.
